Quote book

So you can see I've been renovating my blog quite a bit. Some of it fun, some of it painful. There are supposed to be ads on the side, but google is being vague and won't tell me why they have disappeared.

At the core of this post is a lovely idea (non- big-cat related) I'd like to share with you. It's called a Quote Book. It's a small, insignificant-looking red book I own which I started about 9 months ago. Basically, whenever I hear or read a really good quote that rings true, or is worth remembering, I record it into my Quote Book (capital letters for my Quote Book as it seems like an exceptionally deep idea)
To date, I only have 22 quotes in there, as only the really important ones get recorded. Most of them are from a calendar, and 1 is from a can of bug spray. Wait, that sounds rather crude. It is from a can of insect repellant.

My favourite 2 quotes are on the cover page for me to always remember. It's really good to go and read through that sort of book because I believe it tells you a lot about a person (for instance, why are certain quotes important to that person? What significant meaning do they hold for someone?) but I have also found it very inspirational to read when a cloud of doom descends. They certainly don't take you out of that cloud of doom, but rather give you the tools or thoughts to bring yourself out - which is much more satisfactory in the end.

I can't take credit for the fantastic Quote Book idea. Although it makes me sound like a deep (or maybe not!) individual, I actually got the idea from a fantastic author - Karen Kingsbury. Her series "Above the Line" mentions the idea in book 1 - "Take One". As soon as I read the book I started my own.

In each post I'll put one of my quotes from my Quote Book along with my signatory big cat picture. No matter what the post is about! Let me know what you think - if you agree with the quote (why/why not), what it makes you think of, etc.

Big cat post on the cards later... keep tuning in! :)

Introducing this blog (and the writer)

This is my 1st attempt at a blog or anything remotely similar (it took me forever to decide to get Twitter & forever endure those painful winces given when people find out you have Twitter).
My twitter ID is (amazingly) Big Cat Buddy
My passion in life is... well, read my bio. We won't talk about me again here. In my space. On my blog. No, of course not. :)  I believe I was born to work for and with big cats, so I'm starting to help them as early as possible - using this blog to reach out to anyone interested (and hopefully get people interested) not just in big cats, but in their plight - the fact that they will soon be extinct from our planet. I'll try and bring to light why they are being persecuted, why we should save them, and how you can help.

This blog will also encompass a more personal, humorous side - as I am an animal person you can join me on my journey as I try and understand the people around me, and read on as I verbally bash my studies from time to time. I work as a veterinary nurse so I'll share tips about pet care & some industry insights. Animal behaviour & training are my life also, so no doubt you'll hear all about that. And to cover anything else I may have a spiel about, let me just say that I'm a writing & film studies major - so I can be creative & I absolutely love to write, to talk... to ramble....

Oh, and if you're in America & getting annoyed with my spelling - my apologies. I'm an Aussie & I spell like one. And when I figure this blog thing out better you'll see pics & vids up here too.

I'll try and update as much as possible to keep my followers (when the number gets higher than 0!) in the loop, but with my busy lifestyle & crazy hours you may be about to start dragging the nearest body of water for me when I'll appear again and shatter all those illusions. :)
